A ski holiday with children isn’t just about the slopes. In Megève, the Le Jaillet area brings together three activities that little ones and grown-ups enjoy just as much: a rail toboggan, a giant swing facing Mont Blanc and rubber-ring runs. All in the same place, around the Jaillet gondola.
Le Jaillet’s winter area is due to open from 19 December 2026 to 21 March 2027, snow permitting. Here is our short guide to planning your family day.
The 4 Seasons toboggan run: a rail toboggan facing Mont Blanc
It’s often the activity children are still talking about in the evening. The toboggan runs on a rail: you are pulled gently back up automatically, then race down 715 metres, with 13 bends and speeds of up to 36 km/h. Allow about 6 minutes in total, including the ride up.
Everyone controls their own speed with the brake handles. You can ride alone or in pairs:
- from age 3, as long as they are with someone over 9 who drives the toboggan;
- alone from age 9. In rain, snow or frost, the operator may require the driver to be at least 14.
As for budget, allow €9 per run per toboggan, or €69.50 for a 10-run card, valid for one year (2026-2027 prices).
The Giant Swing: 16 metres high at the top of Le Jaillet
For the most daring, head to the top of the gondola. The Giant Swing is a 16-metre-high swing that takes you up to 20 km/h, with Mont Blanc straight ahead. Thrills and photos guaranteed.
It is open to anyone aged 8 and over (11 and over recommended), between 1.20 m and 2 m tall. Allow €15 per person or €40 for three. It runs from 10.30am to 3.30pm, on a calendar that changes over the winter and depending on the weather, so check the opening days before you go up. The gondola ticket, which you need to get there, is extra.
Snowtubing: rubber-ring runs and plenty of laughter
At the foot of the gondola, you sit in a big inflatable ring and slide down runs of increasing difficulty. No need to know how to ski, and it’s often where you hear the loudest laughter.
- Age: from 4 years old. Between 90 and 110 cm, children ride in their parent’s ring and only the adult pays. Children ride alone from age 6.
- Helmet: compulsory and not provided. Remember to bring your ski helmets.
- Price: €15 per ring for one hour, with 10% off when you buy 4 or more tickets together. Card payment only, at the machine at the start.
- Opening hours: 9am to 4.55pm.
How to plan your day at Le Jaillet
The three activities are grouped around the Jaillet gondola, which makes the day easy to organise, even with little ones.
- Start with the Giant Swing in the late morning: it opens at 10.30am and closes at 3.30pm.
- Keep snowtubing and the toboggan for the afternoon, once you’re back down.
- If you come by car, the car park at the gondola is free for 7 hours with a blue parking disc.
- Dress the children warmly: gloves, a hat under the helmet and ski clothes, because you often end up in the snow.
During the Christmas holidays: the Christmas Village
If you’re in Megève for the festive season, don’t miss the Christmas Village, from 21 to 31 December 2026 on the ice rink esplanade: elves’ creative workshops from age 4, Father Christmas’s office and a big parade on 24 December. And on 5 December, theChristmas tree lighting kicks off the season on the village square. For more ideas, take a look at our experiences in Megève.
